. We trace our heritage to the Reformation of the sixteenth century, when people like Martin Luther and John Calvin fought to keep the biblical faith pure. We were known earlier as the Dutch Reformed Church and are the oldest evangelical church in North America with a continuous ministry. While Dutch in origin, the Reformed Church in America today includes North America's ethnic and racial diversity in our 950 congregations in the United States and Canada.
Reformed Church in America's Mission Statement declares:
The Reformed Church in America is a fellowship of congregations called by God and empowered by the Holy Spirit to be the very presence of Jesus Christ in the world.
Our shared task is to equip congregations for ministry - a thousand churches in a million ways doing one thing - following Christ in mission, in a lost and broken world so loved by God.
